This is not just a valid question, but an important one. Life coaching is NOT counseling; and though I have education and history in counseling, this is NOT a substitute for counseling; but an alternative. Counseling can be exhaustive, expensive, and feeling as if you’re moving in circles. At OTD, I work to get to the crux of the issue and what we can do to resolve it. Whereas, counseling will have you focusing on the underlying factors of why it’s there.

It should also be noted that as a life coach, a mental health issue does not have to be present for me to work with you. Sometimes we just need someone to help us make a significant life choice, overcome a bad habit, or work through an obstacle life gives you.

Our sessions will be

  • Person-Centered

This is your life. God is the owner. You are the general manager and the player. I - as the coach - am only here to give you (the player) the skills and strategies; the tactics necessary for you to be victorious in your aspirations. What those aspirations are is up to you. As a coach I answer to you: the general manager.

  • Solution-Focused

We are all broken and striving for that impossible feat of perfection. When I worked as a counselor, my job was to dig deep and find the reasons for the brokenness. As a coach - unless absolutely essential, or requested - we are focusing on the resolution. Some times that does mean unraveling areas of brokenness to allow Christ to help you process through. Other times, just accountability and skill development.

  • Goal-Oriented

You won’t get far anywhere without adequate game planning and goal setting. What is the point of our sessions? How long do we want to take to achieve it? Consistent goal setting and review allows for continuous growth, and disallows for complacency.

Mental Health Management

Let’s go beyond the quick fix. It’s not about losing the weight, but managing it healthily.
